Well I was hoping to have heard from somebody, don't forget you can comment or you can send me an email to my normal email address.
Today has again been an amazing day. About 10am Ayaka's Mum drove Ayaka and I to the station. We visited the cafe where Ayaka works. It is on the ground floor of a very large department store and it is called Excellsior Cafe. We had a cup of coffee and then Ayaka took me to a store that stocks designer clothes and accessories for dogs. She bought to lovely toys to give to Keiko. We then had a little look around the shop before catching a train to Roppingi Hills.
This is a very upmarket shopping centre and I am afraid way out of my pocket but it was very interesting to have a look. First of all we went to the top and had a 360degree view of Tokyo.
Wow what a sight. This was on the 52nd floor of the building. Also on this floor was a rooftop aquarium. This was unbelievable and the lighting made it very excellent viewing but sometimes the glass walls made it feel like it went on for ever. We then went to this cafe for lunch and we were seated near the kitchen where there was a person hand making the pasta. He allowed us to take a photo of him. This was an amazing cafe, each time a person entered the cafe and was showed to his/her seat the kitchen staff would get the cue from the staff on the floor to welcome them to the restaurant. During lunch I needed to go to the rest room and can you believe I was escorted right to the door. After having lunch we had a bit more of a look around and then I thought it would be nice to have a haircut. We went into what they call a beauty salon and a young gentleman, who could speak English, said he would cut my hair straigt away. What an experience. He was a very nice man and was interested in what I was doing in Japan. Well I was very happy with my haircut, but I will not complain about what I pay in Adelaide as this haircut cost me nearly $60 Australian. From there we caught three trains and walked to Jingo Stadium as did about another 300,000 people. Ayaka had prebooked our seats and we arrived there about 5.00pm. We had a great seat and was entertained for the next two hours by bands, singers and excellent entertainment. At 7.30pm we were treated to a spectacular display of fireworks. Ayaka showed me how to shoot fireworks scenes and I also shot a video. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and was very sorry it ended. It took a very long time to get back to the station, but almost everyone walked in an orderly fashion even though it was bumper to bumper crowds. We finally arrived at the station to catch our train home. Ayaka's mum kindly picked us up from the station. Ayaka got us going in the wrong direction a couple of times but I give her 91/2 for her direction skills. When we got home Yukiko, Ayaka's mum peeled and sliced a beautiful peach and made my a lovely cup of coffee. By the way if Ayaka's scales are correct I have lost 2.5 kilos during my first week in Japan.
Tomorrow we head off to a secret destination and will stay in a motel that has a hot spring. I am really looking forward to this but in the meantime I must pack my many parcels and special gifts and send them on their way home or I will have excess luggage again.
I am having the 'time of my life' and I really wish that you could all experience the things that I have been very fortunate to partake in especially Japanese life.

Hi Judy
ReplyDeleteWell I do consider myself reprimanded so here's a reply for you! I have been enjoying your blog so much - actually not so much a blog but a food journey of Japan! I can't understand how you can lose so much weight under these circumstances. As for the price of your haircut - what do you think I've been paying all these years?????????????? Our friends' son teaches English in Japan and at the moment he is on a break and touring around Japan on his bicycle - so..... if you see a blond headed, cycling Australian whose name is James (amongst those millions of dark haired locals)say hello! Keep up the blogs - even though we don't comment doesn't mean we aren't reading, enjoying and envying you. Looking forward to catching up with you when you return. Cheers, Lynne

Sorry I missed your phone call this morning, have been in leigh creek for the last 2 days, had to drop off some kids for camp up there, a nice 18 hour drive all up, there and back, good times really. Hope you continue to enjoy your trip and blog, and perhaps in your next blog you could describe the presents that you are surely purchasing for me
